Madrid Airport

Photo: The ceiling at the Madrid airport.

I loved how spaceshiplike this airport was. We had about four hours to squander before boarding our flight to Athens, but I was too exhausted to really enjoy it. Three of the girls sat with me in a cafe where I sipped fresh orange juice to quench my thirst.

I hadn't realized language barriers would occur so early in our trip. The menu was in both English and Spanish, but I thought it would be more polite to order in Spanish. As I practiced, the girls marveled at a man throwing whole oranges into a juice machine, using the wall as a backboard. I am proud to report that my zumo de naranja naturale was very tasty.
